The nation pauses on Memorial Day to honor Americans who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
The largest remembrance ceremony in Minnesota will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Memorial events at Fort Snelling began on Saturday, but will continue today with a parade at 9:30 a.m., followed by a program at 10 a.m. with music and speeches from special guests, including U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Gov. Mark Dayton. Other ceremonies will be held at parks, veterans homes and cemeteries across the state.
Memorial Day in Washington:
President Obama will host a breakfast Monday morning with veterans and their families. He will then head to Arlington National Cemetery, where he will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and deliver a speech to honor fallen military members.
