The Red Admiral And Painted Lady

The recessional song at my friend’s funeral today was the beautiful gospel, I’ll fly away.  I felt I was in heaven when I returned home and not one but two butterflies, the Red Admiral and Painted Lady fluttered carefree around me. My first thought was of my heavenly angelic parents.  I quickly got out my phone from my purse to capture the moment. They had by then landed on the blooming sedum plants. I was memorized for several minutes watching them. I wondered about their flight to arrive to my yard.

Look at these butterflies details …  what do you see?

Did you notice the detail of the blue and black on the Admiral butterfly? I think it looks like two, small blue butterflies in flight.

When you think about the butterfly and its life cycle, it contains a great deal of spiritual meaning. Starting out as an egg, it hatches into a caterpillar. Then it enters the next stage where it becomes a cocoon. Finally the magnificent butterfly emerges in all its winged glory.  Are we really so different than that of a butterfly with our soul’s spiritual journey?

Every time a butterfly appears in my midst, I feel I have been sent a spiritual signal.

We use the butterfly on the cover of our Reflections Upon the Waters Photography and Poetry book and also on some of our  Sweet Conclusions greeting cards … If you haven’t looked at our products feel free to now @ our web site

Have a wonderful weekend  … may a butterfly cross your path Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ and give your spirit new hope – good luck. The sighting of butterflies usually means some form of transformation is about to take place in your life.

  1. In northern Europe , it is one of the last butterflies to be seen before winter sets in, often feeding on the flowers of ivy on sunny days. The Red Admiral is also known to hibernate , re-emerging individuals showing prominently darker colourings than first brood subjects. The butterfly also flies on sunny winter days, especially in southern Europe .
