With the first four books of the Maze series now published, I can safely say I am more than happy. It’s been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember.
Writing isn’t really about publishing books though. There are millions of authors in the world and some of them are rich and famous. Others are just scraping by and others still; are searching that special publisher. I believe they all have one thing in common though. I don’t think any of them decided to write a book because they wanted to become rich and famous. I believe with all my heart that they began to write because they had to.
I began writing because I had something to say. The more I wrote, the more I had to say and before I knew it, my first book was complete. Nothing has changed over the years. I still write. I don’t just write books though, I write anything and everything. If you give me a topic, I will write about it. I write for love, not for money. That isn’t to say I don’t make money by writing, merely that money isn’t the reason I write.
The ability to put pen to paper is a gift and there is no denying it. It’s, in my humble opinion, the most powerful weapon on earth as well. It can be used in so many ways, both positively and negatively. Without it our lives would look very different than they do today. Imagine a world with no books, no magazines, no song texts and no poetry. Imagine our lives if we were unable to write down our history for future generations, if we knew nothing of our pasts. Imagine how our lives would be today.
‘Beneath the rule of men entirely great, the pen is mightier than the sword’
~ Edward G. Bulwer-Lytton ~
From sitting down at my computer for hours on end, writing word after word, line after line, paragraph after paragraph, page after page, chapter after chapter… it really hasn’t been a bed of roses. Anybody who tells you writing is easy; isn’t a writer. Writing is pain, sweat, tears and wild emotions. It’s a roller coaster ride of adrenaline pumped up and down, of constant twists and turns. It takes hours of hard work, time away from friends and family.
But I wouldn’t change a thing.
Until next time and my continuation
