On August 9th, 1963, a wonderful little girl was born. In her backyard, her parents had a pool. When this little girl was just seven years old, and the pool was empty, she would climb down into it and sing. She had the voice of an angel and her mother wasn’t about to let it go unheard. At the age of eleven, this little girl began performing as a soloist in the junior choir at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, NJ. That’s where she learned to play the piano. As a teenager, she attended Mount Saint Dominic Academy. Singing was always her great love; was her life and led her into the realms of immortality. Whitney Houston has left us. One doesn’t have to be a great fan of Whitney to appreciate the amazing talent she possessed. She has left a piece of herself for the ones she left behind and the doors of heaven surely opened up to receive her.
Whitney Houston was the only artist to chart seven consecutive No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 hits. Her 1985 debut album, Whitney Houston, became the best-selling debut album by a female act at the time of its release. Her first acting role was back in 1992, as the star of the feature film, The Bodyguard. Who can forget the song, I Will Always Love You? What a song, what a voice…what a woman. Whitney Houston was a gift of God. I don’t want to go into the flip-side of her life, the drugs, the cancelled shows, the ups and downs within her marriage… Let’s remember her for who she was, a beautiful, Afro-American woman and a singing talent, who shall be missed greatly by so many.
Rest in Peace, Whitney Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ
